This is an update to share information on the recent global cybersecurity incident involving Instructure, the company that provides Canvas, Sonoma State University's learning system. This communication contains information we have received directly from Instructure.

This is to update you on the latest information we have regarding the cybersecurity incident involving Instructure, and what it means for our campus community.

Instructure has restored Canvas services and our technology team has enabled campus access to Canvas. Please use caution and review the “What to Know Before You Log in” guidance here.

This is to inform you that the threat actor has escalated its attack on Instructure. As a result, Canvas is currently offline for all three SFBRN campuses, and we are learning that several other CSU Canvas instances are also impacted.

As part of the CHRS transition, CSU Learn will be temporarily unavailable.

What is happening?
CSU Learn will be offline beginning May 6 at 5:00 p.m. through May 13. During this time, CSU Learn and all resources within the system will be completely inaccessible.

How will this affect me?
While CSU Learn is offline, users will not be able to access training courses or related resources.
